'Lifetime Service for One Low Fee' -- Yeah, Right!

Announcements like this one always baffle me:

How in the world can anyone offer a lifetime service of any kind in good conscience -- unless you know that your customer has a malignant brain tumor or is being pursued by a mafia hit man?

I would love to be proved wrong, but I find it hard to believe that any company can seriously think they can fulfill on a lifetime promise that could extend 50 years or more into the future!

The company making this offer gives the following reassuring statement in their press release:

"With its stable financial background, sound technology infrastructure and diversified business model, RNK has ensured longevity in the market."

This long-lived company has been in business since 1997.
